Use of the Accelerometer in Web Design

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010
by Leigh Howells

As far as I have experienced there is little or no current use being made of the accelerometer on web sites when viewed on an iPhone.  The accelerometer when triggered in the iPhone’s Safari browser at the moment does little for our general browsing experience beyond giving us a little more horizontal space when in landscape mode.   But I believe we live in a world where the hand-held web device equipped with accelerometer is going to become more and more prevalent, and quickly. Corporate Presentation Suit or iPadtubby

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Having considered some potential iPad accessories for a few minutes, I came up with a concept for a breathtaking New iPad Accessory – the Corporate Presentation Suit, also to be called the iPadtubby.

The concept is a simple one.  The brightly coloured suit is provided with a large Velcro pad for attaching the iPad to the abdomen area, thus allowing hands free use of the iPad during presentations.   This makes it ideal for the mobile Presenter in the corporate environment who doesn’t want to be constrained by cables, allowing an exciting free roaming presentation.

iPad Accessories in the dream pipeline

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Already, designers are hard at work conceptualising new products to take adavantage of iPad gamers.   The steering wheel shown in the pocket-lint.com link here is probably one of the more obvious accessories, which only just lifts its nose above the level of utterly pointless.  I’m sure many more are being dreamt up as I type.  Not quite as obvious as Wii remote accessories I would say.
