iPad showing headscape site

Yesterday I finally got to play with an iPad in an Apple Store in Florida. I hadn’t completely made my mind up on buying one at the point of walking into the store as I had a few reservations.

Lego Pick n' Mix

Who doesn’t like Lego? Not sure it’s possible to dislike it, unless you have very recently trodden on some with bare feet. This photo was taken at the Orlando Downtown Disney Lego store.

I loved a little venn diagram that was doing the rounds very recently and decided to reproduce it so it would look nice on my wall.  I’d quote the actual source and say thank you if I knew who did it.  If it was you, please let me know !

This week I wanted to create something a little different using only piano, orchestral timbres and a slightly more unusual chord progression.

A simple piece of piano music with (not very convincing) strings. A little dream into the unknown and an escape from the everyday world for 3 minutes. I’ll hire the Prague Symphony orchestra and a string arrangement…one day.

I declare myself a cartoon comedy genius, and am available right away. No project too big or small.

This week’s tune was written and produced in an evening, and starts with a bit of a Daft Punk feel, descending into a bit of a modern drum and bass-ish digital frenzy.

Capturing some of the seasonal flood plain images at the end of my road.  The iPhone camera isn’t great in terms of it’s quality, pixel count, or anything else for that matter.   But one thing that often counts above anything else is the fact  it’s always in my pocket.

Traditional tilt-shift photography uses a special lens (the technicalities of which I really don’t understand) which is often used to simulate miniature scenes.  Basically the lens creates a very shallow depth-of-field which is the effect you get when doing close-up photography of small models etc.

This week I revisited and remixed a Goldfrapp A&E Remix I did on the beach in Menorca in 2008.   I liked the original song, it had minimal acoustic backing and was a bit slow -therefore perfect material for ‘dancing-up’ a bit.

Somehow I am still managing to find time to create a ‘tune of the week’ and having a great deal of fun pushing myself to be creative in a limited timeframe. It’s amazing how much time you can find between the work/life balance and staying up far too late.

Lego Man travelled far to the alien world of Boag. He enjoyed his time in the curious surroundings, but wasn’t invited to spend the day within the indigenous inner sanctum.

A little experimental photographic fun with a Lego Man and his fantastical domestic world.

I’ve been meaning to install a SID chip (Sound Interface Device) virtual instrument for a while now and get all nostalgic about my 8-bit electronic music roots. Here’s the result.

UNISON

A fairly subtle synthy little tune, that tried hard not to become some kind of full-on trance thing, despite making use of some big trance resonant saw waveforms.  I held it back.
