    Parallax Experiments

Experimenting with a new parallax header for this site using CSS transform to achieve a non Javascript solution. I also added some flying bird animations to sit between Z-plane layers for some extra fun.

    First Impressions

I found a screen shot of the first client site I ever worked on back in the 90s. It was tiny! Things have definitely changed. I'd go as far to say we now have to design 50x times more pixels to create a website.

    Waves NX

Waves Audio released a new product called Nx – Virtual Mix Room at this year’s NAMM show in California. To be honest, this product took me a little by surprise. It’s one of those plugins that initially looked a bit boring until I read a little more and saw it in action.

    In Drupal Deep

So I’ve spent the last 5 days burying my head much further into the intricacies of the Drupal CMS. Although I’ve been using and toying with Drupal for years, I’ve decided I need to get to more thoroughly know a content management system that’s taken a little more seriously.

Yes, the Next Project Will Be Perfect!

During every big project I work on, I seem to spend a lot of time thinking through how the next one will be SO much better. It’s always going to be perfect, next time.

Why Codesign Tools are the Future of Web Design

Co-what tools? I hear you ask. Ok, so I invented that word to categorise software such as Webflow, Adobe Reflow and Macaw (not available yet) as I didn't know what to collectively call them. These new tools, and more like them, are slowly edging their way into the web designers' world

    Exploring the Static Web

Embracing the static web generator over the traditional database driven approach.

    Respecting client confidentiality. Lessons learnt.

A few occasions where I have made disclosure mistakes things that either didn't cross my mind at the time as being a problem or I simply thought were too trivial to worry about.

    Old is the new young

If you're getting on a bit in the design world, have no fear - there are lots of advantages to getting the better of those youthful whipper-snappers.
